So recently I had a model, Lucifera, share an image of mine that I took of her, on her Facebook page. And out of the 52 current comments, 0ver 200 likes, not one person praised or even mentioned the photographer.
That got me thinking… Do models make the image? Or do photographers make an image?
By that I mean sure models pose and pout and do what they do. But the photographer’s job is probably more technical. They have to check the lighting, camera settings, lens choice, angles and so on…
Then there’s the editing. Good lord then there’s the editing. If you forget to remove something from the background, you could be in Photoshop for ages. Or sometimes some models just need more touching up than others. That’s all time and effort in the saddle.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a whinge or a rant like my usual blogs. It was just something that I found interesting and worth writing about.
What’s your opinion, if you have one? Photographers under appreciated? Over appreciated? Models get all the attention?
