**Update – My gear layout has drastically changed
I’ve been going through a few of my blog posts lately, and I’ve noticed that most of them have absolutely nothing to do with photography. I have loads of rants, general ramblings and nonsense about what ever is on my mind. But none about photography.
As a result, what I’ ve decided to do is start with a little “Behind the scenes” type of a post, about my gear and what I have carry in my bags.
So buckle up and hold on tight, as we see WHAT’S IN MY BAG. BABY…. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist throwing in a little Austin Powers)
One of my recent purchases was this Calumet Rolling Case. I was sick n tired of arriving at shoots with a large portion of my camera gear in my back pack, and the remainder of it, usually the lighting gear, in a gym back. I wanted everything in one place and easy to transport.
Items in my Rolling Bag for location shoots:
- Nikon D7100 body with battery grip & 70 – 200mm lens
- 35 mm lens
- 50 mm lens
- 18 – 105 mm lens
- 1 x 300 watt strobe
- extension cords & power cables
- Snoot for strobe & other light modifiers
- Nikon SB 700 flash
- Triggers, receivers & sync cables
- Adjustable brollie & flash adapter
- Light stands
- Batteries, memory cards, cleaning equipment

I’m the first one to admit that in 2014, I have definitely not got out & about as much as I should have. But none the less, this is what I carry on my backpack for when I do get out.
Items in my Tamrac backpack:
- Nikon D7100 body with battery grip (70 – 200mm lens – Depending on shoot)
- Hero 3 Black Edition GoPro
- Hero 4 Black Edition GoPro
- 35 mm lens
- 50 mm lens
- 18 – 105 mm lens
- Remote trigger
- Batteries & memory cards
- Lyte battery pack
- Cables & chargers
- Rocket Air Blower
- Waterproof jacket
- Gloves (winter only)
- Snacks
- (Manfrotto tripod retro fitted to side of the bag – when needed)
- (Manfrotto monopod attached to bag attachment – when needed)

In 2015 my wife and I will be doing more outdoorsy stuff. I have given my wife my Nikon D7000 to use so we’ll be going around on hikes & trails & more site seeing.
There is so much else I would love to add. If I am completely honest, I would love a bigger backpack, so that I could carry more, like in the way of some camping equipment. Then camp out for a night while taking night time shots.

Add to that some food or cooking and sleeping accessories and you’re good to go. Get some awesome outdoor photography images done.

This was just a short run through of some of my gear and the luggage I use to transport it all around…
Look out for another gear blog coming soon, as I have another sneaky backpack on order.
Have a good week ya’ll…
hello,
I wanted to ask about the retro fit you did on the side of the camulet bag, I have the same bag as yourself and saw the fittings but can’t find anything on the web that goes there.
Could you possibly send me a pic or if you have some details on what you used please. My back will be forever thankful.

Hi Skins
I can’t seem to find where all my old photos are. (I’ve recently sold my PC and am now on a Macbook Pro, so still playing catch up.) But I will do my best.
All I did was purchased some really cheap and ready made velcro straps off eBay (It was a pack of 10 I think) Those are what I used to strap my 2 light stands and brollies together. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/velcro-strap)
After the light stands were strapped together nice and tight, I used the metal D Ring at the bottom of the bag, and the handle/loop at the top of the same side of the bag, to fasten them in place. That’s all it was… (From what I can recall)
Hope this helps.
